Jackie and Kevin’s experience!
“My husband and I recently hiked the Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail – KWIT. We travelled with our camper van and stayed at the Western KI Caravan Park.
We chose this park for its convenient location to the trail and for the range of services the park offers to people who are walking the trail.
We chose the daily trail transfer option. Each morning we were taken by mini bus to the trail and after a day walking, each afternoon we were collected and returned to the park for an appreciated hot shower in the park’s spotless facilities and the comfort our camper van. Accommodation in onsite cabins is also available at the park.
The transfers mini bus is driven by Mark who is friendly, safety conscious and efficient. One day the power on the island was out and so there was a possibility the satellite phone that was provided to us would not work. At the end of that day’s walk Mark was already waiting to collect us. Now that’s service!
The park also offers a pack pick up and transfer service for those who are keen to sleep out at the newly established trail campsites. You only need to walk with a day pack and your full pack will be there waiting when you arrive at the next campsite – bliss.
We are happy to highly recommend both the Western KI Caravan Park and the trail services they offer. The services are well worth the reasonable fees you are charged.
Fiona and Mark who are the owner/managers of the park will go out of their way to ensure you have the best experience possible both at their peaceful park and out on the Wilderness Trail.”
